TPE Material Guide

What is TPE?

TPE stands for thermoplastic elastomer. In simple terms, it’s a mix of plastic and rubber.

  • This mix makes the material very soft, flexible, and stretchable (up to 5.5 times its length).

  • Because it can be shaped easily when heated, it is widely used in many everyday products.

For dolls, TPE makes the body feel soft and lifelike, while keeping production efficient and affordable.

Things to Keep in Mind

  1. Easily Stained
TPE is slightly porous, so dark or new clothes may leave stains. Wash clothes before dressing the doll, and use stain remover if needed.

  2. Needs Regular Care
Because of its porous nature, TPE can absorb moisture and release small amounts of oil. Always dry the doll fully after cleaning and apply baby powder to keep the skin smooth.

  3. Sensitive to Heat
TPE can deform at high temperatures (above 40°C / 104°F). Keep the doll away from fire or strong heat sources, and avoid heating blankets for long periods.

Silicone Material Guide

What is Silicone?

Silicone is different from TPE. It’s not a mix of plastic and rubber — it is a thermosetting material.

  • Once cured, its shape is fixed and very stable.

  • It is heat-resistant, pressure-resistant, and does not react with most chemicals.

  • Because of these qualities, silicone is widely used in safe products such as cookware, medical implants, and lubricants.

For dolls, silicone gives a firm but realistic look, with excellent durability and safety.

Things to Keep in Mind

  1. More Expensive
Silicone dolls usually cost more than TPE dolls.

  2. Less Flexible
The material is firmer, so arms and legs are harder to move compared to TPE.

  3. Less Jiggle
Breasts and hips don’t bounce or move as much as TPE, which may make the experience feel less soft.
